Mixed Media Fun – Altered Ikea Mirror

14 Nov

Hi there!

I had just make-over this originally plain white Ikea wall mirror. Playing with mixed media elements are just so fun and therapeutic. It allows me to experiment with different mediums and even the sky is not the limit for creativity.

Altered Ikea Mirror

Some quick steps on this altered mirror. First, glide some Faber Castell Gelatos onto the white surface and use a small foam pad to smoothen out the colour. Place the stencils and spray some midsts of various colours. After the midsts had dries, randomly stamp the mirror with a background or wordings stamp.

Sketch your desired girl’s image and then cut out the outline on a plain card stock. I only cut the outline of the top half body as the bottom half will be covered with ribbons and laces. Cut a piece of pattern paper for her top and then dress up the girl with embellishments. I used some DIY texture paste mixed with Gold Acrylic paint for her hair.

Now you have your own unique one and only piece for that special friend or to add cheer to your living space.
