Christmas Theme Box

25 Dec

Hi there

Merry Christmas! Hope you are enjoying this festive break! : )

I chanced upon Tara’s blog a couple of days ago and was inspired by her picnic box creation. Hence, I decided to make one with a Xmas’s theme, just in time to give it to a friend as a gift.

Below are the instructions…

For the box:
Cut a piece of black cardstock measuring 8″ by 10″.

Score 1 1/2″ towards the inside of the cardstock at all sides.

Make a slit at 1 1/2 ” until it meet the intersecting point of the score line. The idea is to make it become a box by bringing the slit sides inwards.

Cover the box both the interior and exterior with patterned papers.

Cut 8″ by 1 1/2″ from the black cardstock to form the york.

Adhere the yoke to the center of box with white glue.

For the box cover:
Cut a 5″ by 7″ cardstock and score at the 2 3/4″ of the length and at 1 1/2″ from the last score line. Make sure the folding line folds towards you.

Cover with patterned papers. Apply glue to the yoke and adhere the box cover to it.

For the box handle:
Cut a strip from cardstock measuring 8″ by 1 1/2″.

Cover with pattern paper or laces.

Adhere to the sides of the box.

Finally, decorate the box with embellishments.

The end product:

Oops.. Had forgotten to take a photo of the side view which showed more clearly the box with handle.
