Hello 2014 – Empty Toilet Paper Roll to Pretty Stationery Holder

4 Jan

Happy 2014!

Wishing all a good start for the year ahead! : )

Am sharing here a Stationery holder altered from a big empty brown toilet paper roll. Was a a friend’s place and the toilet paper had finished and I thought the empty roll is very sturdy to recycle it for something else. Hence, I requested it from my friend to take it home and altered it to this…

from this – it has a diameter of 7.5cm and a good size to put some stationery items in.

How to do this?
First, put the roll on a thick chipboard and use a pencil to outline the base. Cut it out and paint it with black gesso / acrylic paint. This serve as a base for the holder.

Next, paint the whole roll with Martha Stewart multi-surface Metallic Acrylic craft paint. Let it dry.

After both the base and roll have dried, apply a coat of Ranger multi-medium (Matt) to seal the paint. Adhere the base to the roll with Ranger glossy Accents.

Now, it’s time to add all the embellishments you like.

This project is very easy to make. It’s functional and unique – the ideal gift for yourself or for that special one. 🙂

Thanks for popping by! : )
