A Mixed Media Altered Box…

19 Jul

Hi there

Sharing an altered box which I had made for a long time friend who is getting married. Congratulations Zul. : ) He had intended to use it to put some jewelry he plans to buy for his wife to be and presents to her. So sweet. : )

This is how the box looks like in its raw form. I had got it at a stationery shop in Bangkok sometime back.

And ta-da… This is the outcome..

Playing at the July Challenges

18 Jul

Hi there…

I am submitting a project for following few challenges:

Crafts Stamper – ‘Take a stamp – Anything Goes’.

13arts
The challenge#32 theme is Vacation.

image

Scrap Around the World

Below is the challenge mood board. I am inspired by the blue and the nature of things…

Scrap around the world July challenge

Some brief tutorial steps..

First, I applied clear gesso to whole of the paper “Bittersweet Love” in the “All is Love” collection from 13arts. Then, I stamped the images followed by applying clear embossing powder and heat set the images.

image

I mixed some 13arts white and sliver glitter paint with the Prima light paste and applied the mixture onto a stencil. This created a textured effect.

image

And after the paste dried, I randomly sprayed and splattered some color mists. I also did some stamping with the bubble wrap.

image

Once I am happy with the background, it’s time for the layering and embellishing process.
And Ta-Da.. this was the outcome…

Made by Fiona Ong

The picture was taken during a boat trip to view the  Tasman Glacier in New Zealand many years ago.

Below the closeups…

The mini test tube was filled with seeds from Saga Tree, collected on the ground of the tree long long ago. The red seeds are also known as “Love Seeds” because it was said to symbolizes love.

There is a layer mix of Prima Glass Beads, 13arts Glass Filler and various colours embossing powders.

image

The letters were die cut from Sizzix ‘Word Play Alphabet’ Die and I had applied them with glossy accent before coating with Ranger Distress Glitter (Peacock feathers).   I had created the streaks with ZAZZ! Glitter Glue.

That’s all I have for now. Do feel free to drop a note. Your comments do help in my creative learning journey and I greatly appreciates. ; )

Thank you for popping by!

May you have a FUN weekend! : )

Playing at the Scrap Around the World May Challenge

31 May

Hi there

I am just in time to participate in the Scrap Around the World May Challenge just before it closes in a day’s time.

And here’s the mood board.

SATW may challenge

My inspirations came from the pinky flowers, the ice cream and the toppings on the glass.

And Ta-da … Below is my take…

SATW may challenge

First I applied a coat of Gesso to the canvas.
After it was dried, I adhered the patterned paper and cheese cloth to the canvas.

Then I applied textured paste onto the Honeycomb splatter DD-033 stencil from Donna Downey. Next is the playing with the 13 arts Ayeeda paints (matte blue and matte Coral). I sprayed with the Tattered Angels Blue Skies mist and let it dripped of the sides. This is to mimic the melting ice cream effect.

The music stamp is from Shabby Green Door while the sentiment stamp is from Neat and Tangled.

I used the Sizzix Frameworks die to cut on the Mirrored sheets from Tim Holtz idea-ology.

Then were the the layering and embellishments…

I applied Faber Castell Glass Bead Glitter Get at the top right and bottom left corners. I also applied Zazz gel on the flowers to mimic the toppings on the glass.

Canvas project for Words & Paintery’s May challenge

28 May

Hi there!

It has been a super long while since I last did a challenge or posted any craft projects here.

It’s my first time participating the challenge on Words & Paintery blog.

To be frank.. I only know the existence of this challenge blog via Jelissa Mel’s blog where she posted her project for the challenge. Do hop over to Jelissa’s blog to see her works. They are amazing and her projects are always my inspirations. : )

Playing at the December Challenges…

15 Dec

Hi there…

It’s the festive month… People at the malls doing Christmas shopping… Taking pictures of the Xmas decorations etc.. It’s crowded everywhere and especially during the weekends.. : ) Hence, staying at home doing projects seems to be a lovely option for me. I am sharing a Christmas theme canvas layout here… Haha! Not as if I am a Christmassy person…
It has been a super long time since I gathered with friends partying with food, counting down to Christmas, gift exchanges etc…
Well.. it’s still nice to dig out all the Xmas’ theme stash that I have and put together a project. : )

I am playing at the following challenges:
Craft Hoarders Anonymous! Challenge #21 – Celebrate the Season
Scrap Around the World – December 2014 Challenge 20
Once Upon a Sketch – “It’s December…”

I used the sketch board from Once Upon a Sketch:

Capture

I was also inspired by the colours – blue, red and snowflakes on the Frosty Winter Mood Board by Anna Komenda at Scrap Around the World.

SATW MOOD BOARD ANNA DEC 2014

And ta-da… this is my take.

FionaDec14Xmas

This project was done on a 12 by 12 Canvas panel.

Some close ups…

FionaDecXmas

I applied the Prima Art Basic Soft Matt Gel over the canvas and then pasted a 12 by 12 scrapbook paper with the design down onto the canvas. After the gel has dried completely, I sprayed water to the paper and rubbed off slowly to reveal the print. My idea was not to have a perfect reveal of the print thus the tears here and there helps to create texture to the background. Next, I used a couple of stencils, did some stamping, misting etc for the background.

FionaDec14Xmas

FionaDecXmas

I did a accordion mini album here so that I can add more photos to it. I did some journaling at the other side.

FionaDec14xmas

The flourish was die cut using Sizzix Bigz – Elegant Flourishes and I applied the Faber Castell Glass Bead Glitter for the textured look.

FionaDecXmas

The reindeers were cut using the Pazzles Inspiration cutter.

That’s all from me for now.

Thank you for viewing! May you have a lovely festive time this Dec. : )
